I have the same impression. They are putting out a smoke screen of up-beat press releases previous to the announcement, as I have mentioned in other threads, the ISP 19.95 model does not work and the commodity nature of the service makes very price competitive. MIC long distance customers can get [unlimited] service from MCI for 14.95.
About the only reason I can think of for people to stay with AOL (aside from being lazy /and or rich - actually the rich people are sometimes the more price sensitive - after all, who do you think they got rich, by throwing money around?) is emailaccess. if you cancel, I imagine they will not forward any mail. Any views on this?

FWIW,I am a short currently well under water but no plans of covering so you can aim and take a good shot at me, use tomatoes, eggs, real bullets, whatever you have got!
