Yes, like an Apple and Orange they are both fruit, but that's where the similarity ends.

No one is "encircling" Russia. They are "defending" themselves against a government, dictator who has demonstrated a history of invading other countries, putting their people behind fences, sending them to Gulags and murdering dissenters.

A nation that spends far more on weapons of war than are needed to defend themselves. A nuclear powered nation, apparently so paranoid they think a tiny country like Georgia or Ukraine is a threat to them.

A country that invents threats for invasion purposes, is a country small nations need protection from.

Take a look at NATO countries. Please tell me what nation you think would attack Russia without warning?
