Elroy -

Sometime later this year most of the major centers of the US will be covered by Sprint PCS. You won't need to pay roaming charges and for an extra $20 per month you can call anywhere in the US for a minute charge of about 15c.

That makes CDMA phones quite attractive to the US market. Not everywhere in the world yet but the US isn't a small market in fact it can prove big enough to sustain many businesses without the need to expand outside at all. Not that I'm suggeting Q won't expand overseas just that there are some reasonable prospects at home.

"Analogue phones can be easily cloned, and like increased bandwidth, this means CDMA has benefits for the carrier, but its not relevent
for the end-user."
What if you, an end user, have to give your credit card number
over the wireless phone because you need a emergency road towing?
Which phone you choose, AMPS or CDMA? This is an end user benefit!

Qualcomm is a OEM, a equipment vendor, the pricing plan is up to
service provider like Airtouch. The pricing of a phone has nothing
to do with the service plan.
I can have a cheap Samsung phone and choose the most expensive
plan from Airtouch. Does this mean Samsung has a poor marketing
plan too?
