Yes there are deposits in Turkey and there is boron as a mineral in seawater. read below

Boron is a chemical element with the symbol B and atomic number 5. In its crystalline form it is a brittle, dark, lustrous metalloid ; in its amorphous form it is a brown powder. As the lightest element of the boron group it has three valence electrons for forming covalent bonds, resulting in many compounds such as boric acid, the mineral sodium borate, and the ultra-hard crystal boron carbide.

Boron is synthesized entirely by cosmic ray spallation and supernovae and not by stellar nucleosynthesis, so it is a low-abundance element in the Solar System and in the Earth's crust. [12] It constitutes about 0.001 percent by weight of Earth's crust. [13] It is concentrated on Earth by the water-solubility of its more common naturally occurring compounds, the borate minerals. These are mined industrially as evaporites, such as borax and kernite. The largest known deposits are in Turkey, the largest producer of boron minerals.

Re Boron.

I had a fungal infection in my toe nails once.

I tried all the usual concoctions advertised and nothing worked so I gave up.

Later I started using a local swimming pool that also had a hot water jacuzzi in it. The apartment I rented did not have a bath and the jacuzzi eased the ache in my bones and muscles from heavy physical work and exercise when needed. I also noticed the fungal infection dissappearing after about a month ot two from regular visits to the swimming pool and jacuzzi. Always wondered what they were putting in the water.

It wasn't a chlorine based compound as I would of smelled that.

Looks as if it could of been a Boron compound. From the link.

Boric acid is called a swimming pool chemical because it has proved to be highly useful for maintenance. It can help stabilize the pH level of water and prevent problems with algae. This product reduces the amount of chlorine needed in the pool. The compound can help to keep the water clear and sparkling. It is also used for clearing off fungi in the pool water.
