Re: Middle Age Portfolio - Adjustments - Buys and Sells. With the market conditions worsening, the market is favoring value over growth. The "primary" objective for this portfolio is income. With just two years until retirement, I need to lock in the retirement income objective and that means trimming or selling low yielding assets to purchase higher yielding assets selling at a discount to fair value. In this portfolio, today I sold all shares in AAPL .. ANTM .. LLY .. EQIX and I trimmed half of the ABT position. I will sell the other half on Monday after I've had a chance to evaluate the holdings over the weekend. With the proceeds of these sales I added to the following positions: CVS .. D .. EPD .. LEG .. LYB .. MDLZ .. MO .. MS .. NNN .. RY .. T .. TD .. UL. The holdings that were sold generated $234 in annual income. The holdings that were added to today will generate $855 in annual income, thus meeting the objective of increased income flows. If it weren't for the short amount of time I have left to secure the income requirement, I wouldn't have sold or trimmed anything today but the objective is to hit the income target by the target date and not extend the retirement dates beyond the current planned date. Once the income objective is achieved, I can come back and re-establish new positions in the holdings that were sold today.
