It's not like the Catholic Church... a few splashes and droplets, it's a fair sized swimming pool to a new born infant, and you get well dunked. Stayed in the city for about two weeks. Absolutely loved the place. Met up with brothers Ukrainian friends, all of them affluent. Some of them were ex Russian army conscripts in the Soviet days, technical people, and we had some interesting conversations. All of them decidedly anti communist, and did not like Russia or the Russian armed forces much. Some of them got into the Russian military bad books as a result, and even turfed out. There were problems coming back, I am a nervous flyer. Take off aborted must of been close to V1. Some component had gone duff. I hoped it wasn't something I made. A few hours later we took off again on the same plane. This time, whatever it was... worked. Arrived Heathrow London, September 11 2001. Lots of news. Not a trip I am likely to forget. I was planning to go back as my brother has a Dacha on the outskirts of the city. Far as I know it has not yet been damaged. Here is hoping. Yep, peace can't come soon enough in Ukraine, far as I am concerned. The people there are more important to me than any whim of mine of course.
