<<Be clear about your positions. If you are not clear people will not believe you>>

Koan, not only are you and "Central Park Ranger" out of your depth, you are entirely in the wrong league imho.

That is what you both have demonstrated so far. Maybe both of you are playing possum, and you know infinitely more then I, but so far you have both acted at sub kindergarten level of political understanding.
I bet there are 5 year old kids out there, mentally better equipped, to interpret what is going on in Ukraine than yourselves.

Before you go teaching what’s right from wrong, you need to know what’s right, and whether you are talking from that group or whether your one of the bad guys. It isn't so clear and obvious as one might think.

You and CPR might think I am being a bit harsh, and that’s possible, but this discussion I am having with you I am also having with my extended family and feelings do run high. Most of them come up with similar lines of thought as you both have. It's important to me that a thorough and robust understanding of what’s going on is sought, so that a lasting solution can be put in place. Maybe that is just here, one tiny space of cyber land on SI and just one extended family. However, a good idea can catch on, and with good will, the idea spreads. Others who have a genuine concern, and who seek genuine solutions will arrive at the same conclusions. No matter what political system is in place, so called democracy, communist regime, dictatorships of all descriptions, that idea and solution can prevail and be adopted and the opposition will either disappear or die.

So you will find me persistent for at least this post. Later I might just quit as am not going to waste too much time talking to hard wired brain circuits that just refuse point blank to evolve.

To keep this long post short as possible , I will make it quick and easy with a "heads up".

To me, both you and CPR blundered badly when you referred to a link I posted, written in 2014, as just "Russian Propaganda". That article was written by a guy called Heinz Blasnik, who incidentally has a profile here on S.I and highly respected by a number of contributors including me. Sadly he has passed on now, but was a wonderful person, highly talented, and wrote on a range of subjects, mainly on economics. He was of the "Austrian School" view of Economics and a supporter of the Von Mises Institute.

An early example post of his.

The Naked Truth - Big Kahuna a Myth Message Board - Msg: 11501342 (siliconinvestor.com)

I belive this is the article HB was posting, the old link from 1999 is broken.

Inflation, Deflation, and the Future | Mises Institute

There follows and interesting exchange with BGR on austrian school economists, dentists, and root canals without seditives. Nothing to do with the Ukraine, just a random post of his and his outlook on a particular matter.

Fact is, if there is anyone here who is not a Russian propagandist, it's the late Heinz Blasnik. You can argue with me all you like, but others on SI, who know stuff, will likely disagree with your hasty synopsis of that link.

OK so far? The next bit is easy. Go read the link again, this time with a keener eye. Notice the very first paragraph.

Mapping the Conflict in the Ukraine | (acting-man.com)

"John Kerry is appropriately aghast at the “incredible act of aggression” by Russia in the Ukraine:

You just don’t in the 21st century behave in 19th century fashion by invading another country on completely trumped up pre-text,” Kerry told the CBS program “Face the Nation.

This new-found respect for the sovereignty of foreign nations represents a laudable 180 degree change in US foreign policy.

That's Heinz for you, straight to the point. USA says one thing but does another. That does not instil trust in other parties (eg the Russians) one bit.

Hence they just might act independently in thier own interest, and if it means invading another country too to protect their security, they might just do that.

They did. If Putin did nothing, he probably would have been shot as a traitor.

Gettit? If not go straight to the last two videos in this post and it should become crystal clear for you.

The comments in Heinz's link are worth a read too. It reflects much of what is being repeated on this thread. The different understandings of the Ukraine scenario.

So you think Putin is the worst for supressing the "free press"? I think you better go check if the president of the Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has done any surpressing and jailing of the press before pushing on that button for too long. I will let you research that if you can be bothered to. I am one of those guys who thinks Julian Assange should not be jailed either.

I think the WEF (World Economic Forum) and their toadies are the worst authoritarian plague on this planet, even worse than what George Orwell predicted in his book 1984.

Here is a synopsis in case your unfamiliar with the work.

I never been to Russia, but as a teenager I hitch hiked all over the UK and a big piece of Europe. I found the experiences of this guy educational.

B & B doesnt like sleeping on trains with fellow travellers who snore at night. Russia was not a good experince in that regard.

Here is B&B in Russia, he spends a lot of time there. He has loads of videos on Russia. I would like to visit some day.

Brutal as the invasion of the Ukraine is, I would say the West has done worse than Russia in the countries it is has invaded. Real humans live in those countries, and have loved ones too. Before you go argue with me, you better check out Obamas recond of dropping more bombs on people than anyone else out there in the 21st century. Check where each bomb landed and how many innocent woman and children it burned, maimed and killed before you get back to me. By all means, as a Democrat, check Trumps and the Bushes record too... add em all up. Then you might understand that Russia and the Russian people might feel threatened by the West. But there may just be a peaceful way out from the terrible war in the Ukraine.

Perhaps. I hope there is.

You have to realize what this guy is saying before you can contribute imho.

but, by all means make your argument. Don't give me the usual guff that its all Putin as I don't buy it. I dont buy it at all, and I am sure Putin is a really bad person. All politicians work in a murky and muddy human tradegy environment, and I doubt Putin is the worst by a long chaulk.

Noam Chomsky is an informative source in this case. A review of the history since the break up of the Soviet Union.

etc.

If you just skip over and blank all that relevant information in the last two videos, forget it, we have absolutely nothing else to say to each other.
