TJ, the apathy of the Germans and Olaf Scholz, has nothing to do with nuclear war IMHO or of being demure - all is well calculated and has a relative recent history behind it. The German Army supply lines to the Don and Volga Rivers were destroyed in great part by the Ukrainian partisans, all the way to what is now Czechoslovakia. That is how wars inflict damages that last generations. Olaf Scholz decisions are based on his electoral base and German industry which was build on energy supplies from Russia and heavy investments by the big German concerns in Russia (I know of many). Aside Germany has no real army to talk about and Russia's goal is to divide the "un-legal" unification of Germany. As to an nuclear war if started by Russia will end before it started - the Germans think differently and the hatred toward the Germans in Russia is alive and celebrated each year on May 9th. Zerohedge is guessing as is anyone else. From my view as an "armchair" strategist knowing well the Germans and the Israelis and I do understand their political positions and it is shameful as bordering to crime. Israel has no stops in criticizing the allied forces during WWII for the lack of bombardment (even that they flew above them) of the extermination camps but is shamefully quiet to the atrocities that happen in Ukraine. Their main excuse which is partially true but totally unrelated is that many Ukrainians killed Jews during WWII - why it has its own history of discrimination deportation and murder under the tutelage of the USSR.
