Thousand of tons - in the plural. Just saw an article mentioning that the huge explosion in Beirut, which demolished a good part of the city was the equivalent of 1 (one) thousand tons - or, 1 kiloton tactical nuclear weapon. That’s a heck of a lot of explosives in that underground warehouse.
