No one was going to invade Russia. Just because Ukraine was interested in joining NATO then that means it's OK for Putin to carpet bomb civilians, destroy entire cities and rape and pillage the country??

Now that Finland and Sweden want to join NATO, so then Putin has a right to carpet bomb and rape and pillage those countries as well??

What the holy fuck?

There's no "link" that you can post that justifies what Putin the butcher has done, and will continue to do.

Ukraine elected it's own leader (Zelensky) instead of the Puppet Putin wanted to install. It pissed Putin off that he couldn't have his puppet dictator. So it's a war of Putin the murderous dictator against Democracy. I know which side I'm on.

There's a lot of stuff flying around. As they say, fog of war. And there's nothing but speculation and some expert opinion on why the situation is what it is because, frankly, the invasion doesn't make a whole lot of sense from a rational perspective. Which is why I was trying to get down to basics by clarifying what the real risk of the status quo was to Russia. While lots of people have lots of potential and plausible explanations, any and all of which might be true, from a clear-eyed management decision making perspective, invasion has not been shown to be a justifiable decision let alone a wise one. Explicable, perhaps, but not justifiable, unless the objective was to wag the dog.
