I've always thought that farmers are business people, and like businesses, the good ones will thrive, and the bad and mismanaged ones will eventually go out of business. I never understood Farm Aid and all the sympathy for farmers going bankrupt. Nobody has Restaurant Aid when tens of thousands of restaurants go out of business every year. Nobody writes songs about them. Politicians don't visit them. Your farmer friend is an example of a shrewd business person, and that's how you do well in farming today.
