Rarebird, What you call pure speculation, I call strong technical analysis and fundamental research. It's no different than playing Texas Hold'em Poker. You're not contributing anything to the economy. You're not building anything. You're not managing people. You're not innovating, or providing a service, or increasing access to products or material goods. Nor are you providing capital for long-term investment. All you're doing is making money off of other daytraders. There's nothing wrong with speculating, or gambling for that matter. But there is no coincidence in you moving to a state with no income tax, especially when your future gains are directly dependent on how much of your prior gains you are allowed to keep. Tenchusatsu
