WFoL,
Probably so, but we had air superiority in Vietnam and still lost planes.
Vietnam was a classic example of how NOT to maintain air superiority.

According to Forbes, who in turn is quoting Oryx, an open-source military blog, as of April 8th Russia was confirmed (via photos and videos) to have lost 19 planes and 27 helicopters:

Ukraine Is Losing Several S-300 Anti-Air Launchers A Week. But It Still Has Hundreds Left. (forbes.com)

And you can bet that Russia actually lost a lot more than that.

Meanwhile, Ukraine still has hundreds of S-300 SAMs in service. They're still firing at Russian jets. Air superiority dictates that most of those SAMs should be either disabled or destroyed, but that's not happening.

The lack of air superiority is one of many reasons why Russia's military has thus far been much less than effective.

aIr sUpErIoRiTy ...

Can't be. I thought RuZZia had aIr sUpErIoRiTy and is effectively enforcing a "no fly zone" over Ukraine.

How in the world is Ukraine able to fly MiG jets and fire US-made missiles into RuZZian-occupied territory?

After all, it took quite a bit of effort to adapt both the MiGs and the HARMs so that they can work together.

Why would they have bothered if aIr sUpErIoRiTy was an "undeniable fact"?
