Well that's the news. There's more than one way to look at the denuclearization issue. I think there was good reason to get them out of Ukraine, but you are correct that the trade was an implied relationship. I listened to a long recount of that recently. There could have been serious problems if they hadn't given them up. The reason Russia is in Ukraine now is the projection of western power on Russia's doorstep. I'm trying to watch my language here, but you have to be naive to believe the West didn't bait Russia into Ukraine. At every turn that the hornets nest could be kicked ...it was kicked. Ukraine is a pawn. Unfortunately, there's a real human cost. But it would be stupid to think Ukraine is a modern democracy. The guy just shut opposing media down by edict. The white hat/black hat narrative is cr^p. Show me any news outlets here that is portraying it any differently than that. You can't. This is a conflict made in the West. It covers many misdeeds.
