Well duh, when the price of oil fluctuated between $60-80/barrel last year, and now is fluctuating between $100-120/barrel, Russia is going to end up ahead despite sanctions.

Even then, the current sanctions against Russia are still pretty weak compared to the rhetoric. Brandon and Brenda can talk about a "severe cost" all they want, but they still insist on "targeted sanctions" against "oligarchs." In other words, they're just chasing yachts.

Even now, Russia says it cut off gas shipments to Europe:

Europeans shiver as Russia cuts gas shipments (nbcnews.com)

My only question is, "Why didn't Europe cut off the gas shipments first?"

Hence my belief that PooTin can still come out ahead IF Brandon and Europe continue to try and have it both ways.
