My broker called and asked me either put up more money or close
my short position.
Damn, can't he wait for one more day, I am telling him that I
will be a rich dude come market close tomorrow, but he does not
want to hear any of my story ...

I love the motto "buy from the fearful, sell to the greedy" and I have to admit that this AOL buying spree looks like greed.

I sold half my long position before earnings the other day -- the profit after almost 1 1/2 years was just too big to agonize over what strange details might be in the earnings. Now I'm thinking about selling the other half, even though my bias is to be a simple buy-and-hold investor and I see nothing new to worry about regarding AOL's future.

I'd advise all my friends the shorts to play somewhere else. This is not a house of cards or a tulip. There can be a big correction, befitting the huge runup, but not the outright collapse that you would need to make it worth the risks you take with puts/shorts IMHO.

Best of luck to all.
