The US should prepare for the day that it will not be as dominant as it is today. The best way to do this is to build and strengthen international systems that are compatible with American values and play to the US strengths. This is the only prudent approach for the US. Obama sort of tried it to contain China. But he could not do enough. Russia is a distraction.

The US politicians are too focused on perpetuating the past to think of the future. And this is only in those brief moments they are not positioning for the next election.

When was the last time you saw an American leader with a vision for what to accomplish in a decade, let alone the next generation?

You can't just ride out on your past successes forever.
