I will tell you Sun that I one time I was much understanding of the 2- party system & how it worked unlike elsewhere.

Time is relative. Things change quite radically. JFK & all his interests had the nation spellbound in his youthful presidency. When he left us ( I was a h.s. senior), my thoughts are a more nefarious existence exists other than the accused Oswald & players. I always had questions of the correlation of life w/ politics as it played but then I had doubts on the political innocence of America.

To tell you, I first voted in 1968... always a split ticket as I liked the people that sat opposite the aisle.
As with anything those days, there seemed to be an underlying political current, that in itself probably post WW2. Yet the political operatives were not that much different than each other, their politics be damned.

I'm thinking the '80's solidified my politics. Reagan's Iran- Contra affair (impeachable), funding the Saudi Salafists & Pakistan's SI & extracting the stalemated Russians out of Afghanistan (lunacy), tripled the national deficit (a conservative?)

Clinton, impeached for lying about an affair, was getting an approval rate mid '70s% at the height of his impeachment. An excellent internationalist, domestic peace & prosperity, paid down the U.S. deficit for the first time.

So,
for me nowadays there is no politic middle except who gets my vote because I like them. For what it's worth, dTrump violated his oath to our Constitution.. his investigation will prove that, but in a court of law who knows. The rich & powerful do not go to jail in America.

As for your implied threat of ignore, you do what you want.. it's still a free world.
