Yes possibly though those studies often conclude one way or the other depending on who is doing/funding them. Those same people and jobs can be done legally. It would be beneficial for all involved. Worker protections, taxation etc. Also those jobs may become in demand as automation starts replacing jobs "people want to do" now.
It just common sense to filter who comes in. Do we let Putin and his agents stroll in? Murderers etc escaping justice from their home countries? If we aren't filtering, we have no idea who's coming in.
I think everyone that is okay with it should have to let as many illegal aliens live in their house as the number of their own family.
