roto, I was just speaking to the local economies of those affected by the military base shutdowns. Those bases were closed because they were no longer deemed necessary in the post Cold-War world. I am not a proponent of constant war. Frankly, I'd like Congress to actually go on record and declare it if they do want it rather than use the work-arounds that have been used since the Korean War. FWIW, whatever bases were closed in the US have been exponentially expanded internationally since the 90's. So much for the Peace Dividend!
