Gregg -

Sorry to keep on about this but I think its worth the discussion.

What we have is a California company with world beating technology. It is however in an industry which is not driven solely by commercial concerns ie there are politics involved in fact as governments around the world realise the size and importance to their economies of the telecommunication industry they will assist those companies and that means politics.

In addition there are many territories that Q would like to deploy CDMA where there will be "little local difficulites". What happened in Rostov was one example of this and the recent 3G agrements in Europe are another. I bet there was more than technology behind that decision.

Bidding for licenses is different parts of the world is "different" from the ideal that is looked for in the US or the UK.

The point I am trying to make is that Q could have been fine in Rostov if they had gone about it slightly differently. In a similar way the 3G could have turned out with a "more flexible" approach.

Yes it means lower margins but Q could have its assets deployed across the World much more quickly with this approach than by the "tough it out" approach that seems to be a central theme of current strategy. The quicker the systems get deployed the quicker the low margin manfacturing guys will stop wasting all our time and profit potential in a futile effort to out-technology us.

After Korea Q needs some local street guys around the world to get the contracts and some global types to do "commercial" deals with the manufacturers or it will be in grave danger of losing the opportunity.

"Grave danger"? .....Is there any other kind?
