Scumbria,

But who would buy IDT.. First of all IDTI isn't just the C6, in fact the C6 is just a small part of IDTI..

In addition, AMD can't buy them.. National has no need now.. TXN has their own thing on the go, as does LSI and SGS Thompson.. all that's really left is MOT and IBM.. and if IBM didn't buy Cyrix they will never buy IDTI. And mot hasn't seemed to be in the mood to buy anything lately (and if they did start buying AMD would be the first choice)

Steve

Cyrix/NSM RUle!

RE:Which brings me back to my original point on this thread- IDT/Centaur is ripe for a merger/takeover by someone with better fabs and an interest in the low end market.

So who is going to buy them and when? If this acquisition doesn't occur by mid-year, do you think it ever will?

IDTI said that they are bringing up the C6 in the Oregon fab in both the 0.35 and a 0.25 version. Both of these look good at this point. If the 0.25 runs into teething problems, they will have the 0.35 to fall back on. They are also seeing higher speed grades than up to now - many of the 0.25s are yielding at 266+ and some at 300.
