Their deploying woman into the culture war they were losing, mainly in education. They need to regain control of the narrative. Freaking out woman is the key and regaining their support. Packing the court will be the rallying cry.

I think you make a good point. It is a point of incitement that will just fade into the past, people will see that there is life without entitlement to abortion all the time in every state. And the country can enter a period that is a bit more civilized in that respect. Growing up, I knew many girls/women who had abortions, and it served a purpose. But today, there is more awareness, less need, and a little responsibility can go a long way. Of course, men who are concerned about unwanted pregnancy have some learning to do.
