Only sold half so I still got more shares for upside potential, long term player? I think in this market you have to be a long term and a short term player. I lost enough money with IFMX last year and there is nothing wrong with taking profits.

What are the wall street estimates for this quarter earnings.

I too am holding on to my shares for the earnings report. The database industry is on the recovery track and i hope Informix will do well along with other databases.

What do you think

Well, I sold IFQCU's (March 7.5 calls) against my stock for 11/16 today; I was a little off in my timing, could have gotten almost 1 toward the close. I won't regret it unless IFMX shoots over 8 1/2 or so, post-earnings, and stays there. I'm gambling on a little sell-on-the-news retracement, which will let me buy these back cheaper, or let them expire worthless in 6 weeks.

But I'm a long-term holder. Worst case, if IFMX goes way up, making it too expensive to buy back all the options, I'll buy back most of them and fund that purchase with the proceeds from getting assigned on the rest. This is essentially equivalent to selling a portion of my holdings at 8 3/16, which is probably only prudent.

\Jeff:

> Is anyone a long term player here?

Oh but of course! We (actually my wife) has a bunch of IFMX shares in her IRA with average share of around $11 and we are not planning to sell those shares for at least another 30 years or so.

However in our regular account I have to take some profits from now through next 6 months. And this is not just with IFMX but with most of my stock holdings but 2 (SUNW and LSI). I am going to be a dad soon in about 6 moinths and we are planning to buy a house (either here in Silicon Valley or Santa Barbara if we move back to Southern CA) so I am playing a bit cautious especially considering that 90% of all our assets is in the stock market with 100% of that in high techs! And especially since I am a bit nervous about this whole South East Asian flue, which if true I can not afford continuing my patience for another year!

So you see (for me anyway) it is not a matter of playing long term or not, I am simply taking some profits. How else can I afford buying a house in Los Altos, or Palo Alto, (or if we move back to Southern CA) in Santa Barbara?!! Price of houses is these areas do not seem to know any limit but the sky!!

Regards,

Addi Jamshidi

From a technical standpoint, there is a gap at 9 and another at 15. The fundamentals lead me to think this stock is worth holding on at least until those two technical objectives play out. Now it may be prudent to lock in profits here and try to buy at the bottom of a retracement but, I'm not willing to try to pick the bottom when the retracement may only be fifty cents.

Technical rule is that the price will eventually ALWAYS return to fill any gaps! Momentum seems to be behind this stock and I wouldn't try to fight momentum, fundamentals and technicals.

The more people trade the stock, the stronger the support base becomes
