I totally understand. I cared for a mother afflicted with bi polar, dementia and NPD (narcistic personality disorder and a hoarder) who lived in her bed, expecting me to cook and clean and shop for her.

I drove 300 miles each week, filling up the freezer with foods I coked over the week, cleaned maggots out of her sink, (living in Miami did not help) and I believe I have a lot of my arthritis due to the constant cleaning and washing. I slept on the floor in another room with a baby monitor so I could hear her. I had no siblings but I was the caregiver anyway, so I know it would have been me anyway.

I held her hand as she died and as hard as it was, I would not have put her in an institution for anything. I was blessed to be able to do it. It changed me in a good way I think.
