Gregg-

Clearly they've got a much better handle on their business model than I will ever have. And I'm not saying that their strategy is not workable at all. What I am saying is that they are in an industry that outside of the US is politicized and becoming more so each day. It takes more than being a v.good businessman and a brilliant engineer to be a "world" player (unless you have something that no-one else has and everyone wants ie MSFT or the like).

Gregg - Rostov is a good example. Without going into the ins and outs I think that that needn't have been an issue. Mexico - are we going to have a level playing field here? Europe -can we ask what if any representations have been made in respect of the proposed new standard to any authority in "Europe" by the Finish or Swedish governments on behalf of the two companies concerned. China other SEA countries - each with particular "local difficulties" and quaint "customs". All of course with legal and currency issues.

Probably Irwin and Harvey could build an organization to cope with all that and run the business and drive the technology but it will take them a lot more time than if they were to focus on the technology and let one or more of the established world players/manufacturers take care of that side. I can't see how this wouldn't expedite the deployment of Q infrastructure, handsets and related software to the point that failing the introduction of a competitive technology CDMA would have a better monopolistic opportunity as the deployment rolled out wiping out one competitor after another and rendering head to head competition with Q a certain money loser.

I don't think we differ about the strength of Q or its management. I don't think we differ on whether Q will reach its goal. Where I think I differ with you is on the speed at which it can be achieved and the pitfalls that might be encountered if it takes longer rather than shorter to get there.

Regards,

L

Gregg...

Re: >Irwin and Harvey are two of the smartest businesspeople (note I didn't just say "engineers" although that's inclusive) that I have ever met.. Do you really think you understand their business model better than they do?<

Thanks for saying that. My thoughts exactly. -JLF
