I’m beginning to see that “weakening” Russia is a euphemism. If Russia is about to lose and they do not use nukes, NATO / Ukraine will figure the Russki’s got cold feet - and will press harder - and demand unconditional capitulation. Lindsey Graham would get his wish - Putin would be taken to Hague and hung. Russia would get split into a few smaller jurisdictions - which would receive a course in “democracy” - via long term military administrations. If the Russians will see things this way - and I suspect they will - the outlook isn’t good. Since our current stance is bipartisan - the hope is that either Russia wins - or there appears enough political pressure in the US to chill things down - or, maybe, the Europeans will wake up and start seriously objecting to the possibility of getting fried alive. Of course, there is also the typically unpredictable China. They may not like the US becoming such a hypersonic global hegemon (and having a very long 4.2 thousand kilometer border with them). Well, we have front seats, and the show is on. We always knew this could happen some day.
