In WWII Britain declared war on Finland but interestingly the US didn't. In any event the allies mostly treated Finland as a neutral. OT Finland has the world's greatest theme song - Finlandia.

Will check out the blog as well.. right now, I’m reading “The Gray Eminence”, by Aldous Huxley, about a priest who served as [something like] a foreign minister - and was an important collaborator with Cardinal Richelieu during the 30 year war. There were some truly fascinating people living in those times.
