I traveled for biz a good bit during the '03 -'18 window, all around the country and drove a good bit in every location. It was the first travel around all parts of the US I'd done since hitch-hiking trips in my youth ('70s). I was shocked, to say the least. Other than some backdrop differences, mostly distant vistas here and there, it all looked the same. I go back to KY where I grow up, and I'm lost in the places I knew best. No resemblance to what once was there, or anywhere else. And the sad part is how much cultural difference there was, how much variety in what goods and food could be purchased, how much different the attitudes, and the like. Parts of the country were so different from each other. No more. It's almost all the same, give or take.
