Kill File is another way of saying Filter.

This is a very common function with Usenet news readers, where it is used to filter out spam and other unwanted articles. Many email programs also employ filtering capabilities. It can be used to "kill" all articles originating from a particular domain, or from a particular user, or containing certain keywords in the subject or body of the article or email.

In this context, it's a mechanism where you could selectively choose to "filter out" messages from a particular poster. In other words, SI could provide a function whereby you could PeopleMark me, then select an option that would effectively skip over my posts when you read through a thread.

The ramifications are, in my opinion, quite profound and could very easily change the character and appeal of Silicon Investor (maybe for better -- maybe for worse). I can easily understand why the Dryers are taking a very careful and thoughtful approach before electing to implement such a function. Hopefully, some of the people who have been expressing ideas and opinions on other threads will take up the discussion here.

Kill File Function....We have been discussing a suggestion for an ignore function. Many times a thread is disrupted with an out of control poster. Kill File means to totally skip posts by one or more posters. One method would be to place a mark by the poster in the people marks. The result would be that when you click the next button if the next post was by the unwanted poster it would be skipped and you would never see it.
