Too bad democracy is in short supply in that part of the world. Since its inception, Russia has rejected the idea behind the democratic standard of a government of, by and for the people. I suspect leaders in Ukraine have similar feelings. Yes..........the average person going about trying to live their lives in peace would probably like to have a say in the matter, but certainly the oligarchs and tyrants running things won't allow it.

Because the people living in that region have been given nothing but lip service for yrs and yrs, when it comes to elections, there has to be a huge amount of skepticism within the population.

There always was and still is a way to end this conflict peacefully, but it doesn't seem like that is in the cards just yet.
