Mohan, All;

<<Thomas-Thanks and what the heck happened to you???>>

Or Zeev, or Jack Clark, or Rob S.???

Note, I am eager that no one quit posting. Its a great tradition in the U.S. that anyone can speak their mind freely, something much of the world is not enlightened enough to enjoy. But I may exercise some discretion about what I read. And I will continue to exercise my discretion to openly challenging uncalled for remarks like "the CIA is guilty of genocide" or the "US has largely built its nuclear capability and fortunes through occupation of foreign lands". It is very hard not to take umbrage when one's country is impugned the way the U.S. has here on this thread. It is especially hard not to take umbrage when those same posters hide behind sniveling remarks when they are openly and honestly challenged. There is an interesting pattern that has formed here. Some posters would make outrageous and unsubstantiated claims and when challenged they quickly level the charge of "bias". These same posters, whose anti-western, anti U.S. remarks are a matter of record, hide behind this charge of "bias"like a bully who has met his match and turned tail. Instead of answering the call to open debate, they snivel behind hubris and absurd charges of bias. It is all the more absurd in that these same posters live off the system they so casually denigrate. Instead of contributing to the systems they claim to defend they have tapped into the system that lines their pockets. They are part of the great "brain drain" that, perhaps more telling then anything, underscores the unequalled opportunities that abound in the U.S., precisely because of the system nurtured there for these past three centuries. I can only guess that the mind set observed is partially a product of the great myth called the "Asian economic miracle".

Why not acknowledge that the real reason for improved economic conditions is the vestment by wise leaders of free market conditions, that a controlled market doesn't work, and that a willing buyer in a free market has all to do with Asia's meteoric economic rise. Squandering the opportunity is a fairly typical phenomena with newly established wealth but that will be short lived IMO. That is partially because the "big bad west" will actively participate in the recovery. IMO Asia has learned a great lesson. One that the U.S. may have not learned yet, thought it should have. This will be the primary path to a quick recovery in Asia and will be the basis of its stronger then ever ability to compete on the open world market IMO. The fundamentals in Asia have not dissipated. Millions of men and women who work towards a belief that life can and will be better are the underpinnings for a massively enlightened "Renaissance" here.

"U.S. this" and "CIA that" is personal mental masturbation and a disservice to the spirit of this thread IMO. How easy it is to be proud, how easy it is to level unsubstantiated claims, how easy it is to claim "bias" when challenged. But when these remarks are made, do not expect me to lie down quietly.

Best,
Stitch
