Yes, it was. Having the entire editorial board take a position on any issue is meaningful. Adopting a contrarian stance was quite the surprise. Another pleasant surprise happened today with this piece on falling school enrollment. The writer, a staff writer for the Times, gently contrasted the healthy enrollment in red state schools which chose not to shut down for Covid with the debacle in many of the bluest states. Also critical of teacher's unions in general. Sound familiar?? nytimes.com
