2/09/98 - Brazil: Motorola wins tender in Mexico

Motorola won a US$40mil tender to supply CDMA telecoms equipment to the Mexican cellular services operators Baja Celular Mexicana, Movitel del Noroeste, Telefonica Celular del Norte, and Celular de Telefonia, that will cover an area with 20 mil inhabitants. Meanwhile, Lucent Technologies introduced in Mexico its Definity ProLogic telephone system, eyeing a market estimated at US$250mil. The system meets requirements of companies with need of 40 to 600 telephone extensions.
