If the number of patents was the criteria, then AT&T's computer should have swept the world! Instead, 'dumpster'! I think patents are more of a 'hardware' item, with 'copyrights' protecting software. Patents aren't so hot, just tells the competitor how you did it, so they change a couple of things and, bingo!

I used to study patents in the telephone industry to see how we could do the same thing 'differently'.
