The artificial stones are extremely nice; my daughter has an engagement ring with a very nice large diamond which would be totally outrageously expensive if it was natural. The most interesting thing is that DeBeers has a big factory in Portland Oregon growing artificial diamonds and they sell them into the market. While I originally thought it took a while for these things to be grown apparently they can be grown relatively quickly. DeBeers marketing of the natural diamonds is based on selling "natural" as an important phenomenon and they are very successful marketeers. In the end I don't think it will be either or, both will find a place in the marketplace and their own niche, but the natural mines that find the bigger diamonds will obviously do better while the lower grade mines will likely falter.

Possibly. For the few. Go into any of your local malls and still see the cases full of real stones. Especially the lower end stuff. The diamond exploration cycle ended the Diamond play cafe combined with a failure of mines in Canada. Snap Lake, jericho, renard, and nearly Fort Cone, Victor no expansion into tango, U2 bulk stopped by locals that had a real chance at a mine and subsequent asset sale, Chidliak low ball and off market, and the 15 years of suffering for everyone else. MPV and LUC have been the winners and just look at their share prices and the suffering along the way.

MTX south African diamond chase where they scoped land from debeers has indicators that indicate (pun) off the chart diamonds. DIM High grade. Maybe the 10 year wait will on it will outperform the S&P this time? If discovered and viable the means to profitability should be quicker then 1st world belly aching and compliance.
