NeverRight,

You are living up to your name. The Feb. 9 Wired article you refer to relies on the Wall Street Journal Article from last week. Let me remind everyone that the WSJ article came out PRIOR to the release by the FCC of the final bidders on Friday. The WSJ article SUGGESTED that Microsoft might be bidding under the name "MSM Inc." As it turns out, MSM Inc. did not qualify for the auction. Therefore, the basis for the Wired article has been invalidated. For the sake of complete disclosure, I am reprinting the Wired article you speak of. I want to reemphasize to the thread, however, that the article is hopelessly out of date and inaccurate. Wired Magazine should be ashamed of itself for printing this article.

Microsoft in Spectrum Bid?

Federal regulators. You can't live with them. You can't live without them. Or at least that's what Microsoft Corp. might tell you. Already under the watchful eye of one rather large and powerful executive agency - the Justice Department - the software superpower is courting the attention of another Washington behemoth, the Federal Communications Commission.

Microsoft has entered the bidding for next week's FCC auction for 493 local multipoint distribution service licenses. The licenses will give the winners rights to offer microwave telephony and other telecom services in the 28 GHz microwave spectrum. The Wall Street Journal reported last week that the company has registered to bid on all available licenses. Microsoft was, and remains, mum on its intentions.

NeverRight, I hope you're right about this but given your moniker, I am left somewhat amused. Could this be circular reporting from the MSM thing? If so, that died. CAP
