One of the main problem for Apple today is not that the customers are no longer waiting for new Mac products patiently but because that many software developers have given up developing products for Apple.

I have to admit that developing new products on Apple takes much longer than the one on PC. The lack of good tools and obsolete O.S. could be the reason for it. When comes to market decision, fewer companies will spend most resource for smaller market size. Instead, they will likely to aim at the PC market first. Then port the codes to MAC later.
