'Take out' Saddam or Kenneth Starr?? Gary: Thanks for posting this article from NY Post. The guy makes some interesting points, but I have trouble with 'sources close to' people. His theory about Asians taking money out of the U.S to invest in their neck-of-the-woods to help save their respective countries,if true, seems like a very patriotic move if they decide to do so but the question is whether investors (Asians or otherwise) are primarily patriotic or greedy (I go with the latter), unless of course he is talking about government funds invested in the U.S.then this appears more plausible. As for any impending default by SEA countries,it is a possibility but if one were to believe the recent news coming out of some the countries there it looks like things are getting a little better at least in some of the countries. For example Thailand and Korea are running current accounts surpluses in various degrees for the last few months. Malaysia got some 45 billion or so of debt of which some 30% is said to be external debt, which seems manageable. Indonesia has about 20 billion or so in foreign reserves, enough to meet the need of 5-6 months etc. I don't think we need to worry too much about China, Hong Kong and Singapore at the moment and Taiwan is unlikely to default either. But then again who knows. As for the U.S economy, there is a report out today from the CEA Chair Woman Janet Yellen (assuming for a minute she knows what she is talking about)saying that our economy is in good shape and she expects a growth rate of 2.5-3% for this year and next year or something like that. She also expects the low interest rate, low inflation scenario to continue. Now coming to 'Slik Willy',Saddam, and Kenneth Starr etc,I don't know, that is a problem, though it might be a temporary one,but one that could do some damage to the market and perhaps the economy. If I had anything to do with it, I probably send in the troops and take that guy Kenneth Starr out first and then go after Saddam <gg>. Now to conclude, all I am trying to say here is-I haven't foggiest.<gg>
