Many years ago I defined a polished diamond as a store of value as most of its value is the art of cutting and polishing which is substantial human labor and expertise.

Second store of value is fertile land as you can grow on it food to sustain you and your family life - the negative part that contrary to diamonds you cannot take it with you and you need to defend it.

As to precious metals it is a value in the eyes of the beholder no intrinsic value except works of extraction that varies widely, or of art made of gold.
