Joe,

I have been using AB but have recently switched over to MB. I find MB to be better overall, tech support, quotes, servers, and price.

Irby, just found this thread :) great job!

Good Luck

Every so often, amongst all the chatter about online trading firm, I feel the need to toss this in...please indulge me....

You need to ask yourself what is the least expensive firm, not simply in commissions, but in quality of execution, accessibility, and if you are not an experienced investor, relative to feedback, guidance, as well also relative to the execution systems, markets, exchanges that the firm offers.

Remember that if you could have gotten an 1/8 more on 500 shares, the trade did not "cost" you $15 (commission) but really cost you the $15 (commission) and the 1/8 x 500 ($62.50) or $77.50 in total. Thats assuming it was only an 1/8th.

Now, I know that ABWatley and MBTrading (hey Ross! - good guy - sharp!) (dreyfus - don't know), don't make markets or act as principal in their trades (or atleast I think they don't - not 100% sure except for what I read about them on this thread)....but what they can't offer you is flexibility in execution systems...ie...setting up soes to sell your 1000 abcd and trying inbetween with Snet. They don't allow you to pick up the phone and dial GSCO when the %$##*#$#4's don't want to take your SNET preference and are refreshing their SOES quote yet are stalling on the bid., etc.

My feeling still holds true that with the exception of the 100% SOES trader smacking bidding and picking offers, a firm such as ours with access to our traders/trading systems with 1 ring will overall beat most of these firms net proceeds or net costs, most of the time.

Just a word from me regarding my opinion in this area.
