<The low end PII isn't exactly faster than the current AMD K6/233, now selling for $150 street price.>

What???

<So why is AMD just going to go away? >

AMD might not even be in business. When was the last time they made money, Dan?

I have to agree with you Dan! I think that maybe, just 'maybe', the manufacturers might want to 'try and lock the barn door' but it think the 'horses have run wild'! If all of the manufacturers 'got together' (wouldn't that be 'colusion'?) and agreed to recapture the 'horses', it might be done, but if there is just 'one holdout', I think that computer users would support that platform, as we 'all' know how much 'proprietary' software and hardware has 'helped' us! (Especially when the proprietary stuff is no longer supported, and 'we' have to change our platforms! It just takes $$$$ and lots of retraining!)

If that does happen, I will save lots of money, since I won't be 'going on' again and will 'get off' the ride. It is OK though, I am old now and this technology is just fine, thank you. The industry won't pay any attention to me, after all, what do I know after having been involved with computers since 1961. (That's almost 'late last century'!)

Thoughts?

Ken

I guess the buyout rumor is not true.
