Paul, I like what one poster said yesterday in a note about another firm, "the liabilities are rock solid, but the assets are iffy," or something to that effect.

I haven't heard of Brilof in a while. Very few reporters, after a long market where momentum and manic hype has ruled, mention accounting failings any more. Barron's Abelson and Rubin are just about the only ones, and even Savitz shows signs that he is beginning to question the pablum that companies feed analysts. MB

Paul and Michael,

Howard Schilt has a web page -- most of it seems to be pay, but he gives monthly summaries.

schilit.com

I ended up tracking down several of Briloff's old books after reading about him in Howard Schilit's "Financial Schenigians" book. Another good book is "When Stocks Crash Nicely".

I've bought several "out of print" financial books using an online network of used book stores. For example, I got Briloff's book through abebooks.com.
