i asked my 16 year high school child what the date june 6th means in general history.....silence......

i then asked her what the date june 19th means in general history......."i know that was the end of slavery"

Biting my tongue not to chastise her I immediately emailed her "history" teacher to request a face to face sit down. Then, sat her down for a 10 minute discussion about BOTH of these dates.

It's certainly going to be interesting NEXT year when the students focus on US history. i suspect several trips to chat with the so called history professor and district supervisors.

its a disgrace.
