This thread all things considered has been remarkably civilized Derek.

As far as Professor Acharya is concerned and others on this thread I am certain that all political and financial opinions are gist for our meal here. What a feast we have had! Professor Acharya represents a sort of surrogate figure to me; I certainly face the fact that a considerable population of the middle class of India think as he does.

The reason why, in my way I beg to differ with his ideas, is that I like others here I personally see ideas of extreme nationalism and xenophobia leading to something nasty amongst Asian populations who have been polarized along the fault lines of millenia-old religious and ethnic animosities.

A Prediction: All of the above having been said I do believe we have almost reached the end of the beginning in Asia and now we are in for something truly nasty. The pit. So, we should all hang in there together or we will get hung seperately. Even you Sankar. I only wish more financial academics had the "social conscience" that you have Professor Archarya and they took the time to post.

LKO welcome to this always rocking and sometimes rolling discussion of where we are at and whre we are going!
