Ken, Starting with a good population is important. Some use a monthly IBD 70/70 list (thanks to Brian Killough). Others scan for QRS>80. Others type in the IBD "Your Weekly Review" stocks each week. A useful strategy to filter charts is to eyeball (flip through) the charts in QP with the Chart scale set to Constant Log 19%. Every 4 lines on the screen means that price doubles on the chart. Look for charts that "fill" the screen (instead of cross it and look inactive). These are the stocks that have moved in the past. You're looking for them to move again in the future. Another valuable strategy to narrow the selection is to use Richard's BuyBuyBuy scan to find Stocks that have shown they can move. This does not give a Buy signal, but it identifies stocks that you can watch closer. They may pop again after a "rest". Results of BuyBuyBuy get added to the list that you scan each day in more detail. All of this effort is to create the list that you then scan each day for your picks. All of these stocks are strong and potential movers. These strategies were shared by others here on these threads. Perhaps you'll find them useful. There's lots more good stuff here. Good luck!
