tom,

>when the Rupiah strengthens as people expect Indo start a currency board then Telkom and Indosat fall back towards their pre-crisis levels?

I think you make a good point. Rupiah is 7400 to USD today, and TLK dropped 550 to 3750 rupiah in the indo exchange, and the fair value is $10.125 now.

tom,

We are speculating what the trading level of TLK will be if currency board is activated in Indonesia. IMHO if Indonesian currency stabilizes around 5000 for a period of time and normalcy returns to Indonesia, TLK will be trading a lot higher. I do not know whether a currency board will work in Indonesia, perhaps Sankar can provide us his expert opinion. I have a small position in TLK, sold IIT and watching the events unfold in Indonesia.

On fundamentals I feel TLK is undervalued, but political and economic conditions makes it a pure speculation. This morning's WSJ has a big write up on currency board in Indonesia.

Best wishes,

Jyoti
