I get text msgs from people I don't know, wanting to buy my house. I assume they peruse the property tax assessor website to see who owns the property and then google the owner's name and come up with a phone number. I also get occasional flyers in the mail: "We will buy your house, any condition"

I would support changing the tax code to skew things towards home ownership and away from real estate investment. For example, I don't think a rental property has the same $10K mortgage interest limitation that a primary residence does, so in the high cost areas where a lot of this investment buying is happening and is contributing to price increases, the investors are actually at an advantage. That is nuts.
