The Romans and Greeks believed in honor and knew their good and bad actions would be retold around campfires for generations. I think you’re pointing to a key issue - with the constant avalanche of new discoveries and technologies, we live with a feeling that the past doesn’t matter much, and the future is unknown. In other words, we are lost. Out of context. Not all of us, but probably more than ever.
