This is great. Rationalist, humanitarian systems of ethics are - yeah - false gods. People can rationalize their way out of anything. It doesn’t work. Dostoyevsky was right - if there is no God, everything is allowed. Also, of course, if there is no God - there are no God-given rights. The Bill of Rights becomes just another political proclamation.
